My One and Only

This is me and my Mami on the beach in Costa Rica. I treasure this photo like gold. Finding it was like looking for a needle in a hay stack. It's the ONLY photo I have of me as a little baby. I'm not sure what happened to the rest. Maybe being the fourth girl to come along, the photos began to diminish. Maybe there were photos of plenty and they were just simply lost in the shuffle of moving to another country. If I were to ever lose this photo, I would be completely heart broken. Now that I'm a mommy, I wanna make sure that there's plenty of photos of my children. So far, I'm doing pretty well snapping photos of my little guy. Let's just wait and see how it goes if ever I were to have a fourth. (Did I just say a fourth? What am I thinking!)

It's time to pull out your scanner and your pre-digital photos and start reminising of times gone by. Then head on over to Alicia's blog, More Than Words, to share them with the world.

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Today's scenery is of this beautiful sandy beach in Costa Rica. It's another photo that was taken by my sister a few years ago. I've lived in the states for 28 years now and although I love being here, there's still a piece of me that misses my beautiful homeland. Is it possible to miss something you don't even remember? My memories of Costa Rica are very vague. All I have to reflect on are the stories told by my family and the photos they have taken. Hopefully, one day I'll have my own stories and photos to share. Regardless if I ever get to see it with my own eyes again, Costa Rica will ALWAYS be my home away from home. I thank God for making it a piece of me.

A Sleeping Giant

Last week I shared with you the field of sunshine that my sister and brother-in-law came across while on their way to visit one of Costa Rica's main attractions. Today, I'm taking you to their final destination. The scenery comes for the Irazu Volcano. The name Irazu comes from an Indian word which means 'thunder and earthquake mountain'. It's the largest and tallest volcano in Costa Rica. The unusual greenish coloring of the lake at the Diego de la Haya Crater is caused by rainfall dissolving the minerals along the craters walls. It's last major eruption occured in 1963, oddly enough, while President John F. Kennedy was visitng. I'm guessing it was too much excitment for this volcano to contain itself. Today, this giant is peacefully sleeping, but no one knows for sure when he will wake. What a wonder!

Field of Sunshine

Scenic Sunday's here again. Today, I'm taking you to a very special place that's very dear to my heart. The scene comes from the beautiful land of Costa Rica. I'm proud to say this was were I was born. In 28 years, I haven't had the chance to return, but I hope to visit very soon. My sister and brother-in-law were fortunate enough to visit my family a few years ago. While on their way to visit the Irazu Volcano, they found this beautiful field covered with yellow flowers. Being the spontaneous people that they are, they asked my Uncle if he would stop the car so they could snap this photo. It's as if they had stepped into a field of sunshine.

BTW....I will be posting my photos on Sundays, but you're welcomed to join in any day.
