Natural Imperfections

Now that the warm weather is here, I've been taking full advantage of it and unfortunately, Scenic Sundays have taken a back seat (defeating the whole purpose of it). The purpose of Scenic Sundays was so that we would all take time out of our busy lives and stop and smell the roses. And while we're at it, show our appreciation by taking a picture of the beauty that God has placed before us. Well, looks like I let life get in the way. But, so be it! God wants us to enjoy life with our families and that's what I've been trying to do. But now that summer's here, it's the perfect time to jump back on the Scenic Sunday wagon.

In continuation of my Scenic Sundays, I've decided to share with y'all a photo of my favorite flower- the hydrangea. I first fell in love with them when we lived in our former home. Their blossoms were so big and bountiful that I became intrigued. Even with their imperfections, I would prefer them over the most perfect rose, reminding me of my love for my family. Although, they have their imperfections, I would not trade them for the world.

Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Today's scenery is of this beautiful sandy beach in Costa Rica. It's another photo that was taken by my sister a few years ago. I've lived in the states for 28 years now and although I love being here, there's still a piece of me that misses my beautiful homeland. Is it possible to miss something you don't even remember? My memories of Costa Rica are very vague. All I have to reflect on are the stories told by my family and the photos they have taken. Hopefully, one day I'll have my own stories and photos to share. Regardless if I ever get to see it with my own eyes again, Costa Rica will ALWAYS be my home away from home. I thank God for making it a piece of me.

God's Masterpiece

Today, I celebrate the lives of two phenomenal MOTHER'S, my Mamie and my Debbie. Some of you may remember me writing about my Debbie. She was the kind of MOTHER-in-law that every girl dreams of having. Nothing short of a woman with style and grace, she was my dream come true. Although she's no longer with us physically, she will always be in my heart and my thoughts.

The scene from above was taken on a little surprise trip that I set up for my husband on his 30th birthday. He had always dreamed of going to watch The Masters in full swing of things. Being that it's one of the most, if not the most, elite golf championship, I could only afford tickets for the practice rounds. But nevertheless, we were still able to see the masters of golf in action. My husband's love of sports was something that he shared with his MOTHER. Their bond was more than a MOTHER and son bond. It was a bond of friendship. I was always more than happy to have her come along whenever she wanted. And so, the three of us took a little trip. This is the way I will always remember her. She saw this beautiful tree out in the grounds of Augusta National. This is the perfect example of "stopping to smell the roses." The beauty of this photo steams much further than the beauty of the tree. It steams from the beauty of the moment and the beauty of my MOTHER-in-law.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY
To all the beautiful MOTHERS in our lives!

The Lonliest Tree That You'll Ever See

It sits by all it's lonesome. Perched atop the rugged coast of Pebble Beach, California for over 250 years, the Lone Cypress is a true testament of God's magnificent creation. This is a scene from our honeymoon as we toured the 17-Mile Drive some 8 years ago. The Lone Cypress is a treasured icon of the area. To me, it is more than just a lonely tree. To me, it is a Godly reminder that even at times of complete solitude, when you feel completely alone, you must reach for the strength within you that He has bestowed. Only then will you be able to weather the stormiest storms.

Today's scenery comes from a dolphin tour we took a few years ago while on our trip to Tybee Island, GA. No one was sure if we would see the Godly little creatures; but sure enough, two friendly companions eventually emerged from the deep blue sea. I was also able to capture the sneaky little seagulls snacking away at the shrimpers' loot.

Isn't it AMAZING, the beauty God created!
It comes in all shapes, all sizes, & species too.
It's evident from up above and evident in the deep blue.

Jesus Loves Me

I asked God
"How much do You love me?"
"This much"
He replied.
Then He stretched
out His arms
and for me, He died.

Wishing you a blessed Easter Sunday!
Miti

God's Crayons by Georgie M. Kusak

God's Crayons
A young man almost three,
Sat upon his mothers knee,
With crayons in his hand,
His masterpiece he planned.

Brilliant crayons he did love,
And never grew tired of,
Colors so amazingly bright,

Like a glowing prism light!

The evening sunset phasing,
Like a red-hot flame blazing,
Radiant colors so enhanced,
His eager little eyes danced.

With excitement so delirious,
In a soft voice so serious,
Said mother-mother look,

Her hand in his, he took.

Never dropping his gaze,
Like a mesmerizing daze,
Staring at the splendid hue,

God-has crayons too.

by Georgie M. Kusak

One winter evening, as night began to fall, God took out his crayons and began to draw.
Isn't HE Amazing!

A Sleeping Giant

Last week I shared with you the field of sunshine that my sister and brother-in-law came across while on their way to visit one of Costa Rica's main attractions. Today, I'm taking you to their final destination. The scenery comes for the Irazu Volcano. The name Irazu comes from an Indian word which means 'thunder and earthquake mountain'. It's the largest and tallest volcano in Costa Rica. The unusual greenish coloring of the lake at the Diego de la Haya Crater is caused by rainfall dissolving the minerals along the craters walls. It's last major eruption occured in 1963, oddly enough, while President John F. Kennedy was visitng. I'm guessing it was too much excitment for this volcano to contain itself. Today, this giant is peacefully sleeping, but no one knows for sure when he will wake. What a wonder!

Field of Sunshine

Scenic Sunday's here again. Today, I'm taking you to a very special place that's very dear to my heart. The scene comes from the beautiful land of Costa Rica. I'm proud to say this was were I was born. In 28 years, I haven't had the chance to return, but I hope to visit very soon. My sister and brother-in-law were fortunate enough to visit my family a few years ago. While on their way to visit the Irazu Volcano, they found this beautiful field covered with yellow flowers. Being the spontaneous people that they are, they asked my Uncle if he would stop the car so they could snap this photo. It's as if they had stepped into a field of sunshine.

BTW....I will be posting my photos on Sundays, but you're welcomed to join in any day.

Scenic Sunday

Yahoo! Yesterday, I introduced you to my new bloggin venture - Scenic Sunday. It's FINALLY here. I'm so excited and I just can't hide it any longer. Today's scene comes from the beautiful state of Georgia. Some of you may have been here before. It's the Cockspur Island Lighthouse. Back before we knew Mason was coming and he was just a tiny little peanut tucked away in my belly, we took a trip to what would become one of my favorite places - Tybee Island, GA. The Cockspur Lighthouse was just a short distance away and well worth the boat ride. I was so amazed! I had never seen a lighthouse completely surrounded by water.

Uncharted Territory

Tomorrow I will be stepping into uncharted territory. Well.....at least for me it will be. After all, you only live once. Right? So why not. I've decided to make my own meme. The word meme has a special connotation for me. Being the modern lady that she was and not wanting to be called Grandma, my dear mother-in-law thought that Meme would be better suited for her. And I couldn't have agreed more. Grandma just sounded so old and not like her at all. She was a very vibrant lady, always so happy and full of energy. She also LOVED traveling very much. And so, my new meme is a way to honor her memory. It's called Scenic Sunday. Sometimes we are so busy with everyday life that we forget to appreciate the beauty that God has placed before us. Scenic Sundays are about stopping and smelling the roses. And while you're smelling those roses, take a picture so that others can share in your appreciation for the beauty of His creation. The scary part about it all is that I'm adding a Mr. Linky for all of you to join in. So pretty please come visit me on Scenic Sundays. Maybe we'll see things in a different light.
