The Day Bob The Tomato Came to Play

Some of you may remember this pic of me and my little nephew from a while back. It was my I Heart Faces entry for the self-portrait challenge. I didn't win, but I did get a lot of sweet compliments from some of you about my bright red lipstick. Flashy, I know. That's why I don't use it very often. But something really bad happened the other day that would put an end to it once and for all. It some how made its' way into the hands of a three year old. Of course, the one minute I turn my back to relief my bladder, is the one minute he reaches into my purse and decides to go to town with my fire engine red lipstick. And let me tell ya, that little red fire engine goes a LOOOONG way. I walked out of the bathroom to find Bob The Tomato starring back at me. Yup, he was red from head to toe and all in between. What had happened to my little fair skinned guy? I knew there had to be more flashes of red somewhere. So I went on the hunt, but I didn't have to go too far. As I made my way into my bedroom, my jaw dropped to the floor.

Not the comforter......!!!

YES....THE COMFORTER!!!!

Have I told y'all lately how much I LOVE Shout?!!! Never in million years did I think my lip staining lipstick would ever make it's way out of this mess. I thought my NEW comforter was on it's way out the door along with the empty tube of lipstick.

I haven't seem Bob The Tomato since that dreadful day. Hopefully, that was his first and FINAL appearance.

WARNING: make sure you keep your purses up high and out of reach of little aspiring tomatoes.

I know. Y'all are wondering, "Where are the pictures." Well, the thought did cross my bloggy head. Believe me. But I decided I'd better get busy fighting The Tomato stains and leave the camera alone for once. After all, I had a BIG job ahead of me. I now do regret not picking up the camera, but nevertheless, this is an image that will never be forgotten.

WOW! I was thinking the same thing... "where are the pictures?" but then I realized that I'm the dodo that lets stuff sit and stain while taking pictures for the blog :)

That is insane that you were able to get it out - whew!

Thanks for joining up... I was laughing when he decorated himself, but cringing about the bedspread!

Oh girl have I got a very similar story for you. When my daughter was 2 I put her down for a nap at a friends house within reach of my cosmetic bag. After about 20 mins. I went in to check on her and she had taken 3 of my lipsticks and smeared it all over her skin from head to toe. NO skin showing, just lipstick. When I took her clothes off it looked like she was sunburned. Oh and lipstick doesn't come off the skin very easy as you know but it also doesn't come off a bathtub very easy either! I had to laugh at this post as I had lived it many many years ago!
You will have this memory for as long as you live, trust me! It's been 14 years and I still remember it like it was yesterday and I didn't get any pictures of it either.
Hugs.

Oh my goodness! I would have cried. I'm glad it came out of your comforter! Wow, I am surprised!

Too bad you won't be wearing the bright red lipstick tonight! It might help me recognize you!

I can't wait to meet!

Love!
Beth

You are so funny. I so wish you would have had a picture of that sweet boy with red all over his face. Agent got some pictures of Model when she got into some theater make up one time. Too funny.
So glad it all came out of your comforter, because if it had been bright pink nailpolish...it wouldn't have come out. I'm just sayin.
See you tonight girl!

Wow! Shout really got it out? I always leave stains to sit for a few days and then get mad that my Shout doesn't work! I guess maybe if I would clean stuff as soon as it got stained it might come clean!

Oh my goodness! I bet that was a sight to see. Good thing it came out of the comforter! Silly tomato!

Yikes! I would have flipped out too. Definitely wish we could have seen pictures, but you made the smart decision by getting to those stains right away! Glad it came clean!

My daughter has done something similar-she wrote all over her legs and arms! Thankfully, the comforter didn't get ruined!

Glad you got it out of your comforter! That stinks. I have to watch my boy like a hawk. The second he is quiet, I know he is up to no good. Like the other day when he managed to get the pam cooking pray off the counter and spray my whole floor and his legs with it! Yikes! Not colorful, but a giant greasy mess for sure!

LOL, Miti!! I can only imagine your first reaction, and then the second!

OMG thank goodness you were able to get it out. That would have made me just sick.

I still remember the day I walked into my bedroom and found my two year old with scissors (scary enough) cutting up my new bedspread. Don't know why...but I could do nothing but cry.

Haha... Oh NOOOOO!

Amazing that you got it all out of the comforter. Now you can look back at it as a funny story without crying. ;)

I was hoping for pictures too! One of my friends sent me three photos of her nephew the other day and he'd had a playdate with permanent black Sharpie markers. He had scribbled on himself from head to toe and I mean completely covered. I don't know how or if they ever got it off but so glad you got the lipstick out of your comforter. I bet you weren't happy at the moment but you are probably laughing looking back on it. See you tonight!

Two cheers for shout!

I am SO glad it all came out for you. I am guessing the person that invented Shout might have done a red lipstick test...just for you.

Yikes! Of course this happens when you turn your back for 30 secs. to go potty! Little stinkers.

That's just funny ritht there!! Thankfully, my boys have never ventured into my make-up! My niece did, but just to make herself...pretty! Wish there were pictures, but I do understand about wanting to get the mess out.

Great story and description of your little tomato. It's funny now, but probably not at the time!

Julianne said...

Oh my goodness! That is so funny! Well, actually for you, probably not so funny at the time. But it does make a funny story after the fact, right? Now I know, for future red lipstick mistakes, that Shout is the answer!
Thanks,
Julianne :)

You sure have a cool head about it. Bless you! I would have lost it. I am a hot head at times and that would have done it for me.

Glad it came out. Good job!

God bless little artists. Help them select the proper medium. LOL

Have a fun 4th.

I was wondering if it would be ok with you to list a link to your site on The Fort. Let me know.

Have a great holiday weekend!

Wow. I remember the days of desperation as you weighed the need to empty your bladder against the need to protect your things from your child, lol!

My son broke a t.v., two lamps and a vcr and he wasn't even two yet. Every time I headed to the bathroom he headed to break something!

BTW, I was sweating it out, lol! I had enough trouble figuring out my bio for the Five Mom's blog, so I thought good grief, how am I going to do this? ;-)

Awww, thanks for the compliment on my shirt that I wore to the circus. It was 'new' and I do LOVE it! =0)

The camera that I use is a Cannon 40D - same one MckMama uses (if you know her). I just put it on the 'action' setting and voila! =0)

Hope you're having a great Monday!
