THE LOVE DARE
Day 12

LOVE LETS THE OTHER WIN

Do not merely look out for your own personal interests, but also for the interests of others.—Philippians 2:4

TODAY’S DARE

Demonstrate love by willingly choosing to give in to an area of disagreement between you and your spouse. Tell them you are putting their preference first.

********************

At first I thought I had nothing for today's dare, but I knew there just had to be something. Nothing can be that perfect, right?! So I thought for a moment and the only instance I could think of in which we have the slightest disagreement concerns our attending church. Our situation is quite complicated. I was raised Catholic and he as a Methodist. When we got married I vowed to my parents and to myself that I would continue following the Catholic faith. Brad has never disapproved of my attending church while he stayed home. He even approves of me taking Mason. I'm really grateful for that, but I can't help but feel a little sad when he's not there with us, especially when you see families seating together in the church pews. Now that our little Mason is getting older, I'd really like for us to attend church as a family on a regular basis and he mentioned the same to me. The only problem is finding a common ground. I know attending two different churches would not be the way to go. We need something more stable for the sake of our little Mason, but what's that common ground? I guess the only way to find out would be for the two of us to determine together how we are going to go about it. I'm willing to attend a church of his choice and I hope he would be willing to do the same for me. If we give this a chance, maybe we'll find that common ground and we can grow a little closer to God, TOGETHER, as a family. The idea of attending a non-Catholic church is really hard for me to process but I know that with God's guidance we'll figure this out.

Oh dear friend...I will pray for this situation for you. The LORD truly will show you all the way because HIS desire for you isn't to be divided or have strife either.
(not saying you do just that it could be)
This is the beginning of wholeness for you and your Mason can see you all working together for your family! Love how the Lord reveals things like this and I know you will find common ground!

Bless you

Oh Miti that is just wonderful! I believe with all of my heart that God is leading you in this Love Dare to not only draw you and Brad closer together but to draw you closer to Him, together. Truly, it is not about which church you go to. It is about faith in Jesus and finding a church family that you fit into together as a family, grow up with them in the Truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and raise your families together. It is a beautiful thing to be a family member of a local body of Christ and enjoy the blessings that a church family can bring into your life. I am so excited for you and Brad and Mason.

Miti,

I am so proud of you taking this step of faith for your husband. Perhaps just showing him what you are willing to do, may open him up to do the same for you. May God show you both the path and plans He has for you.

This is a big step for sure, but I also feel strongly that you are being lead to think about this. There is something so binding when a family is one. You are on a beautiful journey Miti! Enjoy.

Through prayer anything is possible. I hope you two come to a common ground on which church to attend. I know I missed attending church with both my parents after they divorced.

Hi Miti, I'm excited to see so many people doing the love dare. Your situation is complicated, and I will pray for your family that you can come to an agreement, I do agree that you should be going together, and its awesome that you are willing to work on this area, isn't it great that God is using this book to reveal things to us that we may have let slide for so long! Persevere sister, looks like you have a lot of support!

The choice of religion is a difficult area in which to compromise, but for the sake of your son, I hope you can find a church that both of you can embrace.

Miti, this is really great. A family definitely needs to grow together and worship together.

I pray God will lead you both to the place He would have you attend. There is no telling what God has planned.

He will honor your sacrifice friend.

Love,
Beth

Thanks for sharing your journey with us! it's definitely encouraging me to think more about the things I do! :) I hope that this step results in something wonderful for your family and you can find a church that speaks to both of you!

Keep praying and being willing and God will show you where to go and what to do. God bless (and He surely has and will continue to.)
